Starbucks Is Going to Start Delivering Because Their Sales Suck Recently

Starbucks will be offering a delivery option on its mobile app starting next year in select areas in the U.S. This is after the company reported disappointing quarterly sales on Thursday via conference call. While sales were up, they still fell short of Wall Street expectations. Starbucks “only” made $4.18 billion, which was short of the $4.24 billion that was expected. HUGE fail, as you can see.

The company said that they’ll also be using the app as a way to build customer retention, as well as to offer a feature that lets them order ahead of time on their smart phones.

Other plans that were announced aimed to get customers shifted toward online shopping and away from Starbucks’ brick-and-mortar stores.

Lastly, Starbucks is looking to boost sales in other areas in lieu of competition from fast food chains that have started serving specialty coffee. The company also plans to boost their food sales by revamping their sandwich offerings.
