Waffle House Waitress Shot In Head After Asking Customer Not To Smoke

It’s bad enough to work on the holidays, but things got even worse for a Mississippi Waffle House waitress this Thanksgiving weekend.

According to the Associated Press, waitress Julie Brightwell, 52, was shot in the head by Johnny Max Mount after she had asked him not to smoke in the restaurant.

Mount was actually an ex-firefighter, but apparently this altercation could not be put out and he’s now being charged with first-degree murder, on $2 million bond.

Brightwell was a waitress at the Bixwell, Mississippi Waffle House for eight years and customers said she had been in a pretty cheerful and talkative mood that night, despite being tired.

Kelly Thrasher-Bruner, a spokeswoman for Waffle House, Inc said that although some Waffle House restaurants allow smoking, the Bixwell one had a no smoking policy.
