Whole Foods Forced To Recall Over 70,000 lbs Of Pepperoni Pizza

Pizza-Stk-03

Frozen pizza enthusiasts in the East Coast will be displeased to hear that Whole Foods is issuing a recall of a batch of pepperoni pizzas. Consumerist reports that they were labeled “uncured beef pepperoni” but were actually pork pepperoni’s.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Whole Foods is recalling 73,898 pounds of pepperoni pizza products thanks to the inaccurate labeling.

For those who don’t eat pork, or have pork restrictions, this is a HUGE “No-No.”

Pizzas produced between Jan. 5, 2015 through Jan. 22, 2016 with the establishment number EST. 20234 are being removed from shelves. Specifically:

  • 10-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of “WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 8”
  • 19-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of “WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 12”

If you did end up buying the frozen pizzas, you can return them to where you bought them or simply through them out.
