‘Machete’ Star Danny Trejo Launches His Own Taco Truck

You may best know him as Machete or the lovable grandfather from the Spy Kids series, but I think we all can agree Danny Trejo is one tough dude. That tough dude just launched a taco truck, which you can now find driving around the greater Los Angeles area.

Last year, Trejo opened a restaurant called Trejos Tacos. So what made him take the unconventional route, going from a brick-and-mortar location to a taco truck?

Trejo told Foodbeast:

“Partly it was the clients. Everybody was asking me ‘Why don’t you cater?’ ‘Why don’t you get a food truck and come to our neighborhood?”

The 72-year-old actor is known for some physical roles in the past like the Bad-Ass series and From Dusk Til Dawn.

I’m 72 years old and I gotta look like I’m still 50. So I watch what I eat. I’ve always been, somewhat, healthy. I’m not vegan and I’m not vegetarian but I will watch what I eat.

Drawing from this, his truck offers a variety of tacos that appeals to both vegans and carnivores. There are gluten free options, vegan options, grilled chicken, and beef brisket.

While it won’t feature the full menu of the staple restaurant, Trejo’s taco truck will have a majority of the highlights.

You can find the truck running around Los Angeles at different locations daily. A full schedule can be found on the truck’s Instagram page. Trejo says that he’ll even occasionally ride around in the truck and surprise patrons.

“I like riding around anyway. I might even put hydraulics on it,” he joked.
