This Beer Festival Amplifies Black Breweries and Small Businesses

Community has always been a core part of the craft beer scene. However, diversity wasn’t always a hallmark of it. That’s why Day Bracey and Ed Bailey created the Barrel & Flow Fest, originally Fresh Fest, in 2018.

Now in its fifth year, Barrel & Flow will return to The Stacks at 3 Crossings in Pittsburgh’s Strip District neighborhood on August 11. The festival will feature a curated combination of craft beer, music, live artists, and a vendor marketplace all with the goal of highlighting and amplifying Black breweries, artists, musicians, and small business owners.

The three-day event will include panels, classes, symposiums, and a bottle share on opening day. Saturday, August 12th is festival day and will feature over 75 breweries, 50 collaborations, and dozens of Black artists, musicians, and performers. Barrel & Flow will wrap on Sunday, August 13, with its Sunday Brewers Brunch.

Tickets for this year’s festival go on sale on February 1. Performers, visual artists, vendors, breweries, collaborators, and speakers can now apply to be a part of the festival here www.barrelandflow.com.
