Subway Is Giving Away Free Footlongs If You’re In the Middle Seat Of A Plane

Southwest Airlines recently announced it was ending its open seating policy, which means many of its travelers will be assigned a middle or “sandwich” seat. Subway has decided to make up for this with free footlong sandwiches.

If you fly tomorrow (Jan. 27) in an assigned middle seat, the sandwich chain will give you a $20 Subway gift card. All passengers have to do is take a selfie in your seat and upload it at SubwayMiddleSeat.com. Subway will reward 737 passengers because… you get it.

“Getting sandwiched in a middle seat no matter how early you check in is not something many travelers will love,” said Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer, Subway North America. “So, on Tuesday, we’re going to turn a bad ‘sandwich’ into a great sandwich by reassigning 737 middle-seaters a $20 Subway® gift card. It’s as easy as A-B-C, and the bag is free.’

The promotion is valid only for travelers on flights departing Jan. 27 who register and submit proof of their middle-seat assignment at SubwayMiddleSeat.com.
