You Can Win A 13-Acre Farm For A 200-Word Essay

Have you ever dreamed of owning your own farm? One full of lush, gorgeous fields, with chickens to take care of, and growing all of the organic produce that your heart desired?
Well, you now have a shot at making that dream come true, you just gotta win a 200-word essay contest.
Bluebird Hill Farm, a USDA Certified Organic Farm in North Carlina, is up for grabs to whoever can write the best 200 words about why they want to own and operate the farm. Ideally, they’d like to hire a couple, preferably between 25-50 years old, who will provide the same amount of care and treatment to the farm as the previous owners did.
The farm is being “sold off” because owner Norma Burns had found it difficult to manage the farm after the passing of her husband in 2005, according to Travel and Leisure. Instead of just selling the farm, she wanted to pay off the mortgage and award the farm to someone who would take great care of the land, removing the pressure of finance altogether.

Bluebird Hill, valued at $450,000, is roughly 13 acres and specializes in planting herbs, specialty vegetables, like okra and asparagus, native plants, and flowers.
Apart from the 200-word essay, there are a few other requirements for the essay contest. It has a $300 entry fee, and at least one person in the group or couple submitting the essay has to be 25-50 years old and a U.S. citizen/permanent resident.
You have until June 1, 2017 to submit the essay, so if you want to own an organic farm, now is one of the best chances to get your own.
