McDonald’s “The Legends of McRib” Contest Winner Snags $10,000

Even though the elusive McRib sandwich has now disappeared from the national McDonald’s menu, it somehow stills finds a way to make headlines. Soon, McDonald’s will announce the winner of its “Legends of McRib” contest. Right now, we will announce it: Sawyer Frye from Carthage, N.C. has won $10,000 and a trip to Germany (the only spot on the globe that serves McRib sandwiches year-round).

His video, entitled “The Legend of the Last McRib” follows a young man on his journey to find the last McRib after some terrible news has befallen him. It is surprisingly well-shot, interestingly acted and produced with a quality normally forgone in fast food restaurant competition submissions.

We were fortunate enough to get to ask Sawyer a few questions in regards to his film and newfound winnings. His film was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II and the entire process from shooting to editing took about two weeks. His $10,000 winnings will apparently be going right back into his filmmaking passion, investing in better equipment and funding future films.

Though, when Sawyer is at McDonald’s, his favorite item is the Chicken Ranch Snack Wrap. When he’s not at McDonald’s, his favorite food item is Sushi. Now that you know him inside and out, here’s Sawyer Frye’s winning entry:
