Inside the Emotional Final Hours Of LA’s Oldest Greek Restaurant

Papa Cristo’s wasn’t just a Greek spot—it was THE Greek destination in LA. If you were craving gyros, juicy lamb chops, or imported feta and olive oil that were the real deal, you went to Pico and found Chrys Chrys—aka Papa himself. He took over for his father and turned the place into a full-blown institution.

Originally, this video was meant to be a profile on Chrys. We wanted to learn how he kept the shop running, how he built something that pulled people in from all over the world. But halfway through filming, everything changed.

The restaurant was shutting down.

What started as an educational interview turned into something heavier. Bigger. The Chrys family welcomed us in during one of the hardest moments in their legacy, and gave us the privilage of documenting the final hours of a restaurant that meant so much to so many.

We did our best to tell that story.

Papa Cristo’s was a Los Angeles icon. And it’s going to be missed. Badly.
