Hot Chee-lote Makes Its Debut At Noodle Festival, Thank You 2017

It was but a few months ago I reported on a crazy concoction that an Internet junk food star created: a Hot Cheetos-crusted corn-on-the-cob. Now, there’s something officially called a Chee-lote, a Hot Cheetos x Elote hybrid.

In my initial report, I thought food creator Tym Bussanich was a crazy genius for his bastardizing of elote. The dish was not something anyone would ever serve at a restaurant, but genius enough as click fodder for my fellow Foodbeast readers. Then sure enough, it happened — a restaurant announces they will be serving something similar, an homage to the Internet, Hot Cheetos and a stoner’s fever dream all in one.

Low Key Poke Joint is at the helm of the creation, an Orange County-based poke joint that has already made a name for themselves with their Hot Cheetos Sushi Burrito. The Hot Cheetos Elote will make its debut at the upcoming Noods Noods Noods festival presented by Cup Noodles (full disclosure, it’s a Foodbeast festival).

This is all according to their Instagram photo that went up a few hours ago:

The debut of this item begs the question — where are we in the Hot Cheetos trend cycle? The very beginning? The middle? Tail end? The Low-Key Poke Joint seems to be doubling down, their second Hot Cheetos creation in but a few short months.

If the Noods festival is any indicator, the myriad of available Hot Cheetos-inspired items seems to tell a serious story. It looks like the folks at well-known Orange County sandwich shop, The Kroft, are taking the festival to debut a Hot Cheetos-crusted bao bun, filled with Philly Cheesesteak ingredients:
