Fruity Pebbles Wants Fans To Pay With Actual Rocks For Free Cereal

Fruity Pebbles has announced a nationwide tour that will give fans a chance to get their hands on a free box of cereal. The “Pebbles Pay Tour” will make stops at four Walmart locations in different cities. However, there is a catch. Fruity Pebbles is asking fans to leave their wallets, credit cards, and cash at home, and instead, to bring actual pebbles.
That’s right, a handful of pebbles, rocks, or stones will be the only currency accepted at The Pebbles Pay Tour if you want a free box of Fruity PEBBLES or Cocoa PEBBLES. The marketing tactic is a clever play on the brand, which is inspired by the most famous Stone Age family, The Flintstones. To add to the excitement, three of the cities that the tour will stop in have the word “rock” in their name. Here’s the full lineup:
- Rock Hill, SC: September 8, Walmart Supercenter #585
- Little Rock, AR: September 12, Walmart Supercenter #7
- Bentonville, AR: September 14, Walmart Supercenter #5260
- Round Rock, TX: September 17, Walmart Supercenter #5480
The activations will take place in Walmart parking lots near the entrances. Along with cereal giveaways, fans can expect colorful signage, photo ops, and more. Each event will only last one day, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. Fans should bring small pebbles, rocks and stones that can fit into your hand, not large ones—although, we wouldn’t be surprised if people show up with large boulders, like the fun folks who brought outrageous popcorn buckets for Cinemark’s “Bring Your Own Popcorn Bucket” day.
Rocks collected during the tour will be donated to local parks and recreation departments. Fans can receive one free box of cereal per person while supplies last, and must be 18 or older to claim it.
