Dunkin’ Retires The Iconic Dunkaccino

Pre-Starbucks days, when you were in high school, the classic go to order for kids at Dunkin’ was a Dunkaccino. As ‘cool’ as it sounds, it really was for a young teen, as the beverage was the perfect balance between your favorite kid drink, hot chocolate, and a slight blend to your new favorite adult beverage, coffee.

After two decades, the Dunkin’ staple is joining the long list of discountinued items like the Klondike Choco Taco.

First reported by Today.com, a Dunkin’ spokesperson confirmed the discontinuation speculation noting, “As we focus on innovation and finding new ways to delight guests, we continually evolve our menu in an effort to deliver a fast, frictionless experience. The Dunkaccino is retired for now, but there’s always the chance for its return in the future.”

A chance to return? Like the Mexican Pizza? Does this mean that all the faith in the return of the iconic drink is in the hands of Dunkin’ fans?

While the news seems fresh to us, die hard fans across the nation have been noticing the beverage was unavailable since July 2022 and took to social media to bring attention to the tragedy.

One Twitter user who goes by the name @JimmyDPooper tweeted, “It’s a sad day today. I’m at a Dunkin’ and I just learned that they discontinued the Dunkaccino… That drink is the whole reason I started going to Dunkin’ (thanks to the memes), and now it’s gone forever.”

So fans, should we start a petition to bring back the Dunkaccino? Or do we start crafting custom orders at Dunkin’ asking for half hot chocolate, half coffee?
