This Brand Makes Dessert Versions Of Classic Pasta Dishes

I think most people will agree that pasta is one of the best foods ever. This love has inspired everything from breakfast pasta to pasta burritos, and even pancake spaghetti (which isn’t actually pasta, but you get the point). It was only a matter of time before someone put a dessert spin on this beloved dish.

Pastazerts is a new company that makes chocolate ravioli and fettuccine. It was founded by husband and wife team Joel Rumpf and Stephanie Berwick. Rumpf has been a chef for over 30 years and Berwick has a background in business.

Rather than durum wheat, Pastazerts uses chocolate dough made with organic cocoa powder for its pasta. The ravioli has a cream cheese filling and comes in six flavor options: Strawberry cheesecake, PB&J, fig, peppermint, and piña colada. The fettuccine is also made of dark chocolate and can be drizzled with strawberry or raspberry sauce.

“We’re trying to be something different on the shelf of traditional desserts,” Berwick told Food Business News. Pastazerts is currently available at select retailers along the East Coast, and a few nationwide locations. Though it can be found in the frozen section, the husband and wife duo hope to one day offer it as a refrigerated-type product. “We want to grow and add some pasteurization processes and want to be more shelf-stable later on.”

Pastazerts can be enjoyed cold or warmed for a truly “elevated experience,” and cost between $12.99 and $15.99.
