Burger King Giving Free Whoppers For Halloween, Clowns McDonald’s In The Process

Dress like a clown and get a free Whopper at Burger King, as they’re totally clowning on McDonald’s this Halloween.

The deal applies to the first 500 guests to walk into any participating Burger King restaurants in the Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Austin, and Salt Lake City area, this October 31, from 7 p.m. to close.

The promotional video for the “Scary Clown Night” is infinitely creepy, as clowns, led by a very Ronald McDonald looking clown, chase a man on a bike, right into a dark Burger King. While in the dark, a red and yellow-clad clown looks at the man and says, “I want my Whopper.”

Burger King is not afraid to take shots at its competitors, as it most recently showed during its spicy nugget campaign, poking fun at Wendy’s lack of nuggets.

While Burger King Russia wanted to ban the movie “IT” because they felt Pennywise was free advertising for McDonald’s, the clown theme is being fully embraced in the U.S., and even expertly used to mess with McDonald’s.

With Halloween around the corner, along with the hype from the latest “IT” movie, BK hit it right on the money with this one, although I feel bad for the employees who have to work that night.
