Brace yourselves, Detroit. The worlds of two of the most iconic restaurant chains in the United States are about to collide for the first time.

The Detroit Free Press reported that the world’s first IHOP/Applebee’s combination restaurant will be opening in downtown Detroit next year, bringing all-day breakfast and casual bar/grill food into the same building.

The restaurant is going to be absolutely massive, taking up 12,000 square feet of space and able to seat up to 300 people at a time. That size and combination gives the new combo restaurant the vision of traditional, massive American diners.

While the restaurant’s menu is still in development, we do know that it will be targeted to serve local hotel guests, downtown visitors, workers, and residents of this populated area of Detroit. And according to executive chairman Mark Schostak, the restaurant will feature a coffee bar and interior designing that represents the Motor City.

We’re hoping that the menu takes advantage of the best of both worlds and opens up something special: A combo 24-hour diner with all-day breakfast, happy hour food deals, and tasty round-the-clock food that could give the best of similar diners a run for its money.

IHOP brings the 24-hour breakfast to the table, while Applebee’s provides the bar food, drinks, and tasty lunch/dinner creations to give this combination restaurant a true diner feel. A combo restaurant like that from two chains would be a dream come true.
