Why These ‘Chinese Burgers’ Are One Of Costco Canada’s Most Talked-About Samples Right Now
Did your eyebrows raise as well when you saw ‘Chinese Burgers’ in the headline? Okay good! That’s the appropriate response and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t alone. Costco Canada members are getting blessed by TC Foods with these “Chinese Burgers.”
Think of a burger that is completely enclosed in a light, crispy and flaky pastry bun. Then filled with one of these perfectly seasoned flavors: beef and black pepper, hot garlic beef, sweet chili chicken, or pork and green onion. Inspired by China’s street food scene, the viral videos you’re seeing on Instagram and TikTok are having foodies rushing to Costco to sample (of course) and pick up a 4 pack!
TC Foods is taking its popular frozen lineup on the road, hosting a series of Costco roadshows aimed at bringing its crowd-favorite dishes straight into home kitchens. Based in Toronto, TC Foods is a trusted supplier of frozen dumplings and Chinese burgers, with products now carried by more than 200 retailers across the U.S. and Canada.
For clarity, those so-called “Chinese burgers” are actually Chinese beef pies, a street-food staple inspired by rou jia mo, often referred to as China’s version of a hamburger. The pies feature seasoned, savory beef tucked inside a crisp, flaky bread that’s pan-fried until golden, delivering a rich, comforting bite that sits somewhere between a meat pie and a sandwich.
The only downside for U.S. shoppers is that the Costco roadshow appears to be limited to select locations in Canada for now, meaning American fans may have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the beef pies in person.
Canadian Foodbeast fam, please let us know how good these are as soon as you can and quickly ship some to us. We’ll take a modest 30 boxes with a variety of the flavors. Nothin’ too crazy.
