This Is The First Soul Food-Inspired Line Of Canned Cocktails And Beer

As a child, many of us were likely told to “stay out of grown folks’ business” or some iteration thereof. Now that we’re adults (21 and over), we can now enjoy said business as both a beer and a hard seltzer.

Grown Folks is said to be the first soul food-inspired line of canned cocktails and beer. The Los Angeles-based brand has three hard seltzer flavors: Peach Cobbler, Ambrosia, and Key Lime. Each drink is crafted at 6% ABV with real fruit juice and fermented sugar. Grown Folks’ first beer, Front Porch, is an American Light Lager that is 4.5% ABV.

Founded in Los Angeles in 2021 by Danica Dias, a hospitality veteran, the Black-owned business draws its inspiration from her Creole heritage, Southern traditions, and strong female figures in her life to create a brand that reflects her identity through beverages. In fact, the idea Grown Folks came to Dias in 2020 during the COVID lockdown while cooking her late Grandma’s handwritten Peach Cobbler recipe.

Grown Folks is now available in California and launching in select Whole Foods, Sam’s Club, and Total Wine stores this Spring 2024.
