This Artist Creates Amazing Mini Scenes By Repurposing Food

Enter the awe-inspiring mind of Tatsuya Tanaka, a Japanese miniature and mitate artist. Using his unique imagination to repurpose everyday items, including food, into wonderfully creative ideas has allowed his art to be showcased in museums throughout Japan. Concepts typically center around fun life activities, pop culture, and food.

Carefully intricate, Tanaka has been sharing his miniature art daily since 2011. In addition to everyday items, he includes tiny diorama pieces that he custom designs and 3D prints in his personal studio. After photographing the scene, he shares it in what’s called a “MINIATURE CALENDAR”

“I wanted to take this way of thinking and express it through photographs, so I started to put together a “MINIATURE CALENDAR.” These photographs primarily depict diorama-style figures surrounded by daily necessities. Just like a standard daily calendar, the photos are updated daily on my website and SNS page, earning it the name of “MINIATURE CALENDAR,” his website reads.

Sure to put a smile on the face of your inner child, below is a peek into the tiny world from Tatsuya Tanaka’s big imagination.

Tanaka recently saw his art establish a permanent residence at the Kansai Kobe Airport, displayed under the name MINIATURE LIFE X KOBE AIRPORT. The concept behind the exhibit is “a theme park where adults and children alike can enjoy plane watching.” He has also released several art books and fun merch which can be purchased on his website.
