TGI Friday’s Mistletoe Drone Promotion Off to a Terrible, Bloody Start

You can’t imagine how difficult it was not titling this piece of content something along the lines of “TGI Friday’s ‘Mistle Toe Drone’ Promotion Ends in a Blood Bath.” Even then, we wouldn’t be too far off the mark from what occurred at a TGI Friday’s location in Brooklyn yesterday.

For those unfamiliar, TGI Friday’s has launched a Mistletoe Drone promotion that encourages customers to swap saliva when a camera-touting drone flies above them while dining.

According to a lengthy account by Brooklyn Daily writer Vanessa Ogle during a press trip to document the drone, photographer Georgine Benvenuto was hit by the drone, cutting her nose and chin.

According to the recount of the evening, Ogle mentions that one of the two remote-controlled helicopters dangling sprigs of sexual inebriation (mistletoe or whatever) lost control and clipped the photographer in the face with one of its spinning, uncovered blades.

“It literally chipped off a tip of my nose,” said Benvenuto, using tissues to stanch the blood. “It took off part of my nose and cut me here, right under my chin.

The Brooklyn Daily article ends up noting a back-and-forth blame game between the in-store drone operator David Quiones and the injured Benvenuto. If you have a couple minutes to read, it’s quite humorous. If you don’t have that kind of time, the TL;DR version is that Benvenuto is indeed going to live following this incident, as onlookers claim it looked like nothing but a mere scratch.
