Starbucks Adds Protein Boost To New Lattes And Cold Foam Flavors

Starbucks is poised to become your new hub for a protein boost starting September 29. The company is adding protein-boosted lattes and cold foams to its menu that deliver 15 to 36 grams of protein per 16-ounce beverage (its grande size).
“As we continue to get back to Starbucks, we’re focused on modernizing our menu with innovative, relevant, and hype-worthy products that will resonate with our customers,” said Tressie Lieberman, Starbucks’ global chief brand officer.
The new additions come on the heels of a growing interest in protein consumption. According to the 2025 IFIC Food & Health Survey, 70% of Americans admit to wanting to consume more protein. The trend has fueled innovations like protein water, protein tea, and advances in plant-protein.
The new Starbucks Protein Cold Foams and Lattes will be available in several flavors, with sugar-free and unsweetened options. The protein cold foam adds 15 grams of protein per grande to any cold coffee, tea or Refreshers. Cold foam flavors will include banana, vanilla, sugar-free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar, along with seasonal pumpkin and pecan flavors.
Starbucks is also testing signature Protein Cold Foam iced beverages, each loaded with 19 to 26 grams per grande. They will initially be available at just five locations, with a nationwide rollout pending a positive customer response. The lattes are made with protein-boosted milk, delivering 27 to 36 grams per grande.
Starbucks has not announced what the signature flavors will be. The protein milk, however, will be a new add-on option for customers.
