Saucy Mermaid Sushi

Sarah Alonzo was one of 20+ artists that exhibited at this month’s FOODSCAPE, an art show that coined ‘food’ as the primary subject matter. Alonzo’s piece, Saucy Mermaid Sushi, was a ceramic piece that materializes a fictional sushi dish that finds a high-grade mermaid getting diced up for culinary’s sake.

Hundreds of individually crafted pieces of ceramic rice were glued to an unorganized perfection on every one of the four pieces. Details include amazing textures throughout, brilliantly toned colors and the terrific final splash of blood soy sauce.
