President Obama Eats at Ben's Chili Bowl

At Ben’s Chili Bowl, a 50-year-old Washington fast food institution, there had always been a sign near the register that proclaimed that the only person who eats free at their spot, is the restaurant frequenter, comedian Bill Cosby. As of this Saturday, that sign has been amended, “Who Eats Free at Ben’s. Bill Cosby. The Obama Family.” Determined to get some lunch time “half-smokes” (sausages smothered in spicy homemade chili sauce, mustard and onions), President Barack Obama entered the diner after the Secret Service came in, secured the location and barricaded the U Street block.
