Lady Gaga Suing the Makers of “Baby Gaga” Breast Milk Ice Cream

Makers of Baby Gaga, an ice cream made from milk extracted from human breasts, are facing a lawsuit from Lady Gaga herself. Apparently the ice cream parlor’s branding and promotion is too closely  associated with that of the current queen of pop. Interestingly enough, the ice cream isn’t even for sale any longer.

Completely unrelated to the impending lawsuit from Lady Gaga, store owner Matt O’Connor took to his blog to reveal that the Westminister Council had banned the ice cream just a few hours after it had been put on sale. The DailyMail reveals that Gaga’s lawyers called the dessert ‘nausea-inducing’ and ‘intended to take advantage of [her] reputation and goodwill’. Whether that is the case or not, the legal documents around the case tell the shop to ‘change the name of the ice cream to something which is not aurally, visually or conceptually similar to Lady Gaga’.

O’Connor had plenty to say in his official response to the lawsuit, with several discussion points that proved to be quite interesting. Does Lady Gaga have a legitimate right to govern the usage of the word “Gaga”? He questions the superstar, asking “How can she  possibly claim ownership of the word ‘gaga’ which since the dawn of time has been one of the first discernable phrases to come from a baby’s mouth.”

What do you think? Is Lady Gaga overstepping her boundaries by levying a lawsuit against an independent ice cream parlor? Is Lady Gaga forgetting she once wore a dress made entirely of once-alive meat product? Or, is the Ice Cream parlor at fault for infringing on the Gaga brand?
