A Man Named "I Love SPAM" Gets Married At The SPAM Museum

I thought I was a huge fan of SPAM, but this guy takes it to a whole new level.

Last year, Liverpool, England resident Mark Benson legally changed his middle name to "I Love SPAM" to permanently showcase his obsession for the brand. If it was possible to take that passion a step further, he just did by recently flying from the UK to Austin, Minnesota to get married at the SPAM Museum.

Benson and his newlywed wife, Anne Mousley, are the first couple to ever get married at the SPAM Museum, which was decorated with tons of SPAM swag and included SPAM-colored (aka pink) roses, a SPAM-themed wedding cake, and SPAM appetizers for guests to enjoy at the reception.

While Mark has the SPAM obsession, it was actually Mousley who got the entire thing arranged for her new husband, whose grandfather and uncle both worked at a Liverpool SPAM manufacturer. Mousley knew that Benson would be thrilled with a SPAM wedding, so she reached out to the brand and got the ball rolling on the idea, eventually being able to confirm and reveal the news to Mark on Valentine's Day.

“I am beyond appreciative of my fiancée for making my dream come true, and of the SPAM Museum for hosting a wedding day that exceeded anything I could have imagined and that I will cherish forever,” said Benson. “Marrying Anne was amazing alone, and the icing on the cake was getting to say our vows at a place dedicated to the brand that I love and holds so much nostalgia for me.”

As a wedding gift to the couple, SPAM and Hormel Foods are sending them and their two daughters to the 15th Annual SPAM Jam Festival in Waikiki, Hawaii, taking place tomorrow.
