Dunkin’ Experiencing Rare Donut Shortage Across Multiple States

In a rare turn of events, several Dunkin’ locations are experiencing donut shortages. Cities in Nebraska, New Mexico, and other states have been impacted. According to the Associated Press, Dunkin’ says a manufacturing error is to blame.

Locations across Albuquerque, New Mexico got hit the hardest, with employees pointing to supply chain issues and delivery trucks with missing stock. Employees could only hope for the best, as Dunkin’ didn’t confirm when the donuts would be replenished.

The shortage is a nationwide issue, says the manager of an Omaha, Nebraska location. Though states like Missouri and Massachusetts reported no issue with stock. Inspire Brands, the private equity firm that owns Dunkin’, pointed to a single supplier as the culprit behind Nebraska’s shortage, per Jack D’Amanto, the company spokesperson. He says around 4% of Dunkin’ locations in the US were affected.

Bryce Bares, owner of several Dunkin’ chains in Nebraska, told the Omaha World-Herald that he blamed below-standard donuts for the shortage. After receiving a recent order, he decided not to serve them to customers. Apparently, subpar donuts were delivered to other locations as well. Bares says the supplier has corrected the issue and that the donut you love will be back in stock soon.
