Chipotle Preparing to Launch Farmesa, A New Spinoff, This Month

Chipotle's new fresh eatery concept, Farmesa.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, a staple in fast casual dining, has announced their latest project, Farmesa, slated to open in Santa Monica later this month. While this isn’t a new venture for Chipotle (the chain also created Tasty Made and Asian ShopHouse back in 2017), this will be the first spinoff restaurant under new CEO Brian Niccol’s reign.

“One of our strategic objectives is to create or invest in emerging culinary spaces and restaurant concepts that fit within Chipotle’s food with integrity mission and make fresh food daily,” said the CEO in a statement on Wednesday.

Opening at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California, Farmesa will still keep the same signature Chipotle-style customizable bowls but with robust new flavors and fresh new ingredients. Operating out of a ghost kitchen, it will allow Chipotle to explore new flavor profiles and customizable combinations with minimal risk.

Farmesa will begin its soft opening later this month with limited hours before the official rollout in March.
