Blue Bell Reveals New Protein Ice Cream Lineup
Blue Bell has spent decades being the ice cream you don’t pretend is “better for you.” It’s indulgent, nostalgic, and proudly not chasing wellness trends.
Which makes this next move interesting.
The Texas ice cream staple just teased Blue Bell PRO, a new line of protein-forward pints arriving this spring. Each serving packs up to 12 grams of protein, with roughly 33 to 35 grams per pint. The lineup launches in five familiar flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee, and salted caramel.
This isn’t Blue Bell trying to reinvent ice cream with adaptogens or protein powder vibes. According to the brand, PRO pints are high in fiber, low in fat, contain no added sugar, and land between 100 to 110 calories per serving. In other words, it looks like Blue Bell is trying to thread the needle between ice cream fans and macro-watch gang.
That’s notable, because protein ice cream has mostly lived in the niche lane. Think chalky textures, hyper-functional branding, and flavors that feel more gym locker room than dessert drawer. Blue Bell stepping into this space signals something bigger: protein-forward eating isn’t just for fitness brands anymore. It’s officially mainstream enough for legacy comfort-food players to take a swing.
What we don’t know yet is the most important part: how it actually eats. Texture, mouthfeel, and that unmistakable Blue Bell richness are the whole game here. Protein numbers mean nothing if the pint doesn’t deliver on comfort.
More details are expected closer to launch, but one thing’s clear already. Blue Bell isn’t abandoning its identity. It’s seeing whether indulgence and intention can coexist in the same freezer aisle.
