8 Prebiotic Soda Brands Shaking Up The Beverage Industry

Functional beverages have step into the forefront in 2025. These include juices, teas, protein shakes, energy drinks, flavored water, sodas, and others that offer additional health benefits beyond hydration. According to studies from Innova Market Insights and IBIS World, interest is rapidly growing among every age group, and when you look at the nutritional benefits, it’s clear why.
Unlike traditional sodas rich in sugar and artificial flavors, prebiotic sodas assist metabolism and digestion, lower inflammation, and reinforce the immune system, to name a few. From Coca-Cola’s Simply Pop to the new prebiotic Pepsi, here are eight prebiotic brands shaking up the beverage industry.

OLIPOP
Launched by owners Ben and David, Olipop is made with “wholesome, hardworking” ingredients, sans spoonfuls of sugar. Ben invested years into acquiring research-supported ingredients that improve human microbiomes and digestive health. Olipop is made using the brand’s functional OLISmart formula, each can containing a combination of hand-picked botanicals, plant fibers, and prebiotics.
Specifically, cassava root, chicory root, Jerusalem artichoke, nopal cactus, calendula flower, kudzu root, marshmallow root, acacia fiber, and guar fiber. Olipop is not only high in fiber, but vegan-friendly, gluten-free, paleo, and GMO-free. Flavors include Vintage Cola, Orange Squeeze, Lemon Lime, Banana Cream, Cream Soda, Doctor Goodwin, Tropical Punch, Cherry Cola, Classic Root Beer, Ginger Lemon, Strawberry Vanilla, Cherry Vanilla, Classic Grape, Watermelon Lime, and Ginger Ale.
The brand has made considerable strides in the beverage space. It’s the top non-alcoholic brand in the U.S. by dollar sales and also recently received a $1.85 billion valuation, per Food Dive, proving that it’s just getting started.

CULTURE POP
Culture POP is made by steeping ground organic spices and/or herbs into an organic blend of real fruit juices. Each 12-ounce can delivers billions of CFUs (colony-forming units) of live probiotics. Whereas prebiotics are plant fibers, probiotics are food or supplements that contain live microorganisms — in general, both help maintain healthy gut bacteria. Culture POP contains just 45 calories and uses no refined sweeteners, stevia, or artificial sweeteners. It’s also non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, plant-based, and certified kosher.
Flavors include Strawberry, Black Cherry, Wild Berries, Watermelon, Lemon Lime, Orange Mango, Pink Grapefruit, and Ginger Lemon. Culture POP is one of the leading prebiotic options currently on the market and in Feb 2024, raised $21 million in an investment round, planting seeds for further expansion.

WILDWONDER
Wildwonder is a woman-owned brand inspired by Chinese homemade tonic remedies. In an appearance in Season 14, Episode 11 of “Shark Tank,” founder and CEO Rosa Li showcased it as the first functional soda to offer both prebiotics and probiotics. According to Food Republic, Wildwonder is now sold in 40 U.S. states, including Target stores in Southern California and Whole Foods Market stores nationwide.
A refreshing and healing drink, Wildwonder blends herbal wisdom with prebiotics, probiotics, and real fruit flavors. Each can includes just 40 calories, 5 grams of dietary fiber, 6 grams of sugar, is USDA organic, vegan, has 1 billion probiotics, and is GMO-free.
Enjoy nutritious ingredients like Agave Nectar, Lychee Juice, Jerusalem Artichoke, Chicory Root Inulin, and Monk Fruit Extract. The flavor lineup consists of Peach Ginger, Strawberry Passion, Mango Gold, Guava Rose, Raspberry Lychee, and Pineapple Paradise. What’s more, 5% of every can sold goes towards empowering women and marginalized communities.

POPPI
Poppi popped on the scene in 2015. One of the brands to pioneer the prebiotic soda space, co-founder Allison Ellsworth caught a major break on reality deal-making show Shark Tank. Since then, Poppi has skyrocketed in popularity. The burgeoning brand recently secured the highest advertising impact score among all Super Bowl 2025 advertisers, per YouGov.
The ad did stir up controversy, though. Fans called out Ellsworth’s choice to gift influencers expensive vending machines instead of schools, hospitals, or community spaces — tone-def. However, the marketing snafu doesn’t appear to have slowed Poppi down. Ellsworth responded on her TikTok, saying, “I hear it and if we were tone deaf, we’ll own it and get better.”
Poppi is naturally sweetened with agave inulin, which is also prebiotic and includes pure, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, 5 grams of sugar or less, and 25 calories or less.
While not certified organic, it contains organic ingredients. According to the website, it is vegan and gluten-free, though non-certified. It is, however, Non-GMO Project Verified and OU Kosher. The brand offers a long list of flavors; Cream Soda, Cranberry Fizz, Cherry Cola, Orange Cream, Wild Berry, Lemon Lime, Orange, Doc Pop, Ginger Lime, Raspberry Rose, Grape, Cherry Limeade, Watermelon, Classic Cola, and Root Beer.

SUNSIP
A newer addition to the functional soda scene, SunSip is an offshoot of one of the most popular kombucha brands, Health-Ade, which was founded by a nutritionist, her husband, and her best friend in 2012. It was recently acquired by Generous Brands, the owner of Bolthouse Farms.
In Feb 2024, Health-Ade launched SunSip as a more accessible option for consumers interested in gut-health-focused beverages. In place of sweeteners like stevia and erythritol, which have been under scrutiny for being linked to an increase in heart and stroke risk, SunSip uses real fruit juice with no artificial sweeteners.
It has 5 grams of sugar, monk fruit, 2 grams of cane sugar, prebiotics from agave inulin fiber, vitamins C, B6, and B12, and 10% daily value minerals Zinc and Selenium. Flavors currently include Lemon Lime, Raspberry Lemonade, Cherry Cola, Strawberry Lemonade, Root Beer, Peach, and new additions Cream Soda, and Dr. Bubbles.

DE LA CALLE TEPACHE
De LA Calle!, which translates to “from the streets,” is the Mexican-owned beverage brand behind Tepache. Co-owner Alex Matthews came upon traditional Tepache, an ancient Mexican beverage, while scouring the streets of Mexico City. He’d later meet co-owner Rafael Martin Del Campo, a food scientist, and fervent fermentation lover who was taught how to make Tepache by his grandmother. The two came together to deliver this prebiotic soda brand currently shaking up the beverage industry.
In 2024, it was featured in Whole Foods Market’s Top 10 Food Trends. De La Calle! Tapache captures the authentic taste of the original in a can while updating it for consumer palates. It’s a soda with fermented cultures (similar to kombucha), that’s low in sugar, rich in antioxidants, and loaded with flavor. Ingredients include erythritol, acacia, fruit and vegetable juices for color, agave fiber, citric acid, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
Choose from the flavors Mandarin Refresco, Tropical Ponche, Tamarind Citrus, Grapefruit Lime, Pineapple Spice, Mango Chili, Prickly Pear, Watermelon Jalapeño, and Hibiscus Citrus.

POP JONES
Jones Soda hopped on the prebiotic bandwagon last year with Pop Jones. The new line features five original flavors; Cucumber Watermelon, Pineapple Ginger, Orange & Cream, Strawberry Passionfruit, and Mixed Berry & Kiwi. Another beverage in its infancy, it’s still early to know how it will fare against competing prebiotic sodas. However, according to a press release, Jones Soda recently secured a new $5 million revolving credit (up from its previous $2 million) that will be used to support sales growth in its modern soda and adult beverage categories throughout 2025.
