The Internet’s Latest Drink Obsession Is Summer’s Spiciest Sip

Folks continue to find ways to spice up their wine. Last year, it was adding Diet Coke to red wine. And now, people are adding fresh jalapeños to white wine.

The internet’s latest drink obsession might just be the summer’s spiciest sip. All it takes is a few sliced peppers, a trip to the freezer, and a pour of chilled white wine—preferably Sauvignon Blanc. The result? A glass that drinks like a margarita, but hits like something totally new.

Wine brands like The Federalist and Joel Gott are welcoming the trend. “Sauvignon Blanc already has bright citrus and tropical fruit vibes, but it can also carry grassy, green pepper notes, which share aromatic compounds (pyrazines) with jalapeños,” says Corey Garner, winemaker for The Federalist. “Add a few slices and you get a flavor remix that’s crisp, refreshing, and a little unexpected. The wine’s acidity softens the heat, and the fruitiness brings balance. It just dials up the freshness.”

Google searches for “Sauvignon Blanc jalapeño” have seen a breakout spike of over 5,000% in search volume the past 30 days. Are you going to try a glass?

Would you try it? If you love a spicy marg, meet your new winter pour: Jalapeño Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, peppery, and laced with slow building heat from the frozen jalapeños. The longer they sit, the hotter it gets. It’s just the right amount of fire. #jalapenosauvyb #jalapenowine #jalapenosauvignonblanc #jalapenosavyb #marmont #marmontbar #marmontbarmelbourne
