Nothing beats the first sip of a perfectly chilled beverage. Unfortunately, keeping beverages cold and ready always comes with a caveat. Ice melts and refrigerators require a power source. However, if the UK-based startup deltaH Innovations has its way, room-temperature beverages will become a thing of the past.

The company has developed a self-chilling aluminum can called the “Cool Can.” With the simple press of a button, it’s designed to instantly chill drinks. You’ll no longer need to rely solely on traditional cooling methods, ensuring that every sip is a crisp one.

“At the back of every can containing a beverage; it’s always displayed as best served ‘chilled’ but this isn’t possible when you are on the go,” said James Vyse, founder deltaH Innovations.

The “Cool Can” stores water inside of an aluminum base, which is activated by pressing a button located underneath the can that releases salt components embedded in the can’s walls into the water. This mixture causes a chemical reaction that instantly cools the water. A drink’s temperature can fall from 71 to 42 degrees Fahrenheit in a few minutes. The can is designed to prevent the water and salt components from mixing with the drink.

“Our patent-pending Cool Can solves this problem for both consumers and brands, self-cooling when on the go with a simple twist at the bottom.”

Cold temperatures will sustain for up to 45 minutes. Cans feature a snowflake symbol as a “chilled indicator” that turns blue when it reaches optimal temperature. The design is also fully customizable. Currently, deltaH Innovation’s “Cool Can” is still patent pending and doesn’t have an official release date.
