Heinz Brings The Heat With New Lineup Of Spicy Ketchup Flavors

Heinz has officially debuted four spicy new ketchup flavors into its ever-expanding repertoire of sauces, and it’s a collection they’re calling Heinz Hot Varieties. While the original ketchup recipe obviously relies on a tomato base, these four additions are all using different types of peppers to bring the heat.

We now have three different types of spicy ketchup — Chipotle, Jalapeño, and Habanero — but fans seem to be most excited about the new Hot 57 Sauce, the first new Heinz innovation in over a decade. This new addition to the lineup adds a red jalapeño twist to the OG Heinz 57.

According to a press release, nearly 50% of all U.S. millenials and Gen Z condiment buyers not only use spicy sauces on the regular, but also are constantly in search of new flavors and spice profiles.

“Listening to insights gleaned from our audience showed us that a sauce’s heat source really matters to them, which served as a north star in creating new products with curated and flavorful, pepper-specific bases,” said Heinz Brand Manager Lindsay Davis. Coming from one of the most trusted brands in the sauce game, it’s no surprise Heinz is taking the initiative to think outside the box and keep up with shifting demands.

Heinz isn’t the only brand wanting to stay on par with new generations of flavor profiles: companies like KIVA with their cannabis-infused ketchup, Hidden Valley with their take on pickle-flavored sauces, and Truff’s latest Super Mario Bros collaboration are all striving to develop fresh new takes in the industry.
