A Petition Has Been Created to Remove ‘Spill Your Guts’ Segment from The Late Late Show’

With the dramatic rise in Asian hate recently, awareness has been spread in regards to the discrimination, prejudice, and stereotypes that Asians all over the world have been subjected to for years. It hasn’t helped that mainstream media has had a large part in shaping and filtering the general public’s overall viewpoint on Asians and Asian culture.

The misconception has run rampant for far too long. But thanks to emboldened members of the Asian community, the rally to fight back against the whole scope of Asian hate has been a rising tide that’s resolute in stamping out all vestiges of this despicable attitude and outlook towards Asians everywhere.

One such individual looking to use their platform for this tremendous cause is Kim Saira, a Filipino-Chinese-American influencer and artist who recently created a petition to remove popular segment, ‘Spill Your Guts’, from James Corden’s The Late Late Show.

In an Instagram Reel of hers and a carousel of Instagram posts, Saira highlights how the ‘Spill Your Guts’ segment presents foods such as balut, century eggs, cow tongue, and pork blood — all of which are predominantly eaten in many Asian cultures — as “disgusting” and “horrifying.”

“The “Spill Your Guys” segment on The Late Late show takes foods that are heavily used in Asian cultures and presents them in a way that is not only incredibly culturally insensitive, but further perpetuates discrimination towards Asian Americans,” writes Saira in an Instagram caption.

“We aren’t cancelling the show or James Corden, we are simply holding the show & him accountable for their specific segment,” she clarifies later.

Accountability is a huge step for many who have helped perpetuate the ill misconceptions of Asians, which at many times have resulted in slurs, micro-aggressions, racist rhetoric, and violence.

The petition to cancel ‘Spill Your Guts’ from The Late Late Show can be signed here.
