[Adventure] Berkeley Dog

To all the sausage fanatics out there in Orange County California, make sure to visit Berkeley Dog. Berkeley Dog offers a menu complete with 12 different types of gourmet sausages (as well as the occasional special meats) that can be customizable with your own toppings.

Some of the different kinds of sausages include: Kobe Beef, Kielbasa, Louisiana Hot Link, and Juicy Habanero. Occasionally, there are even specials such as: duck and bacon, alligator, and even rattlesnake.

I took a visit to Berkeley Dog with fellow Foodbeast contributor; Brian Yamamoto and we grabbed a few things from the menu. This, of course, meant that we had to try the rattlesnake and alligator.

“The rattlesnake was spiced to perfection and had a solid texture,” said Yamamoto.

Me, I got the alligator with some grilled peppers on top. The Alligator tasted like a combination between chicken and fish. Though it sounds a bit strange, it was actually quite tasty.

Did I also mention we got the Monster Fries? Yeah, we got the Monster Fries. This delicious stack of deep fried potatoes are topped with sweet grilled onions, gooey cheese, fresh bacon bits, and covered with a unique chipotle dressing. Between the two of guys, that baby was gone in a matter of seconds.

Not counting the gourmet toppings, Berkeley Dog also has its own free topping bar which comes with sauerkraut, freshly chopped onions, a couple different types of relishes, and nine flavors of mustard to choose from.

“Berkeley Dog is a Schnitzel paradise.” – Brian Yamamoto

So to anyone in the OC area looking for meaty experience, I would recommend checking out Berkeley Dog. There are a few locations scattered in Orange County. For a pretty decent price, you will definitely leave with a full stomach and a pretty fulfilling experience. Next time, I’m trying the Bacon Hash Dog and the Pastrami Sandwich.
