The Starbucks ‘Secret Menu’ Doesn’t Actually Exist

The Pink Drink. The Matcha Pink Drink. Whatever else you’ve attempted to order off of Starbucks’ “secret menu,” it’s probably pissed off and/or confused the barista you ordered from, and with good reason. The secret menu at Starbucks isn’t real – at least according to one particular barista.

At other chains and fast food places, secret menus are beloved cult items by fans of the chain, like at In-N-Out, and their staff knows both the official and secret menus to heart. That’s not the case at Starbucks.

This unnamed Starbucks barista gave a lengthy interview to NY Magazine and confirms that there is no Starbucks secret menu.

“It’s stuff that random-ass people made up online, and then people will come in and try to order stuff and expect us to know what it is, and we have no idea. It sounds good, but unless you can tell us what’s in it, we can’t make it for you. And people get kind of mad about that.”

We’ve definitely seen our fair share of what this barista is talking about with the onset of the pink drink and Matcha pink drink, both of which became viral via social media before baristas nationwide knew the drink even existed or how to make it. As a social experiment, we created our own “Orange Drink” last year to prove the same thing. Anyone can come up with a Starbucks drink and share it on social media, and it will go viral and people will try to order it.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s part of some secret menu. It’s just something somebody came up with and others replicate as a result.

So if you’re going to go to Starbucks and order one of these beverages, come prepared. Tell your barista how to make it and show them a picture so they explicitly know what to do.

They’ll be a little annoyed if it’s an extremely complicated beverage, but they will make it if given the proper guidance.

Just don’t expect them to know it already cause you saw it on the internet.
