Gay Man Gets A Chair To The Head As Violent Melee Erupts In BBQ Restaurant

A gay couple is claiming there was some gay-bashing going on as a violent fight broke out at New York BBQ joint Tuesday.

Caught on video by some patrons, Dallas BBQ in Chelsea was the scene of a fight that had people quickly scattering, and a person hit in the head with a chair.

One of the victims involved in the melee, Jonathan Snipes, told DNAInfo that he believed it was a “hate crime” and the man who distributed the chair shot said, “Take that, faggot.”

“These guys attacked us specifically because they knew we weren’t their type of people. It was disgusting. It was awful,”– Jonathan Snipes

Instagram user @Isaamsharef captured the chair shot on video and posted it to Instagram:

In the video, you can see two men huddling together in a corner of the restaurant, when suddenly a bald, bearded man picks up a wooden chair and hits one of them over the head with it.

Although the couple claims it was a hate crime, police told Mashable that they are still investigating the attack and there was “no indication inside the complaint report that the incident was of that nature.”

In a YouTube video there was a more extended look at the fight, but it’s still not clear what sparked the incident:

The man who attacked them is still at large, but the couple is hoping someone can identify the man with the available footage.
