Pepsi Confirms that Doritos-Flavored Mountain Dew Actually Exists

Whispers were swirling that Pepsi was secretly testing savory flavors as a concept for its drinks after Mountain Dew test samples were rumored to be given to students at Kent State University.

Like most credible sources, the tip on this taste test came from a Redditor named Joes_Nipples, and although that could be a good enough source to convince most, Pepsi came out and confirmed to Quartz what Mr. Nipples had first claimed:

We are always testing out new flavors of Mountain Dew, and giving our fans a voice in helping decide on the next new product has always been important to us. We opened up the DEW flavor vault and gave students a chance to try this Doritos-inspired flavor as part of a small program at colleges and universities.

The “Dewito” flavors that were tested at Kent State were lemon ginger, mango habanero and rainbow sherbet. The Redditor, whose real name is Steve Barnes told Quartz that with the exception of the sherbet, which tasted like medicine, the weird new drinks were actually palatable.

Pepsi didn’t say when any official release would occur.

Can’t wait to inevitably see this at Taco Bell and pair it with a Doritos Locos Taco.
