Famous Artwork Transformed Into Eye-Catching Desserts

If artistic sushi isn’t your thing, but you’re still itching to get in on the artsy food trend, you can still get your fix with these desserts inspired by famous artists. Sarah Ann Ward, a New York-based photographer, has been collaborating with food stylists Heather Meldrom and Michelle Gatton.

So far the five pieces of edible art have been influenced by the works of Rothko, Picasso, Pollock, and Koons, using ingredients like rice krispies, cake, and Twinkies.  Most of Ward’s inspiration comes from research, a “good ol’ art-history book,” and the desire to make food in a way that “it can be served, eaten, and also recognizable.”

While Ward doesn’t have any plans yet to turn this into an exhibit, she’s working on more projects, including a Salvador Dali-inspired s’more, complete with oozing marshmallows a la Melting Clocks.
