This LA Shop Will Serve You Chocolate Fried Chicken

Chocolate and chicken might not sound like the ultimate pairing, but ohhh baby is that false. Umami Burger founder Adam Fleischman took this culinary match and ran with it, opening Choco Chicken last week in Los Angeles.

Just like its name implies, Choco Chicken features none other than chocolatey fried chicken. This drool-worthy dish is made from free-range Jidori poultry that’s marinated in brine and slathered with spicy batter before hitting the fryer. But somehow, Choco Chicken manages to sneak bittersweet chocolate into its crust, making for a truly sublime fried chicken experience.

Fleischman partnered with movie producer Sean Robbins, chef Keith Previte and fellow restauranteur Lee Weinberg to bring this concept to life, and he plans to expand Choco Chicken into Santa Monica later this year and to New York City next year.
