Taco Bell Is Now Serving a TOASTED CHEDDAR CHALUPA

Taco Bell is at the forefront of fast food joints pushing the envelope with crazy food inventions. A couple years ago, the Doritos-flavored taco was the height of the menu’s innovations. At this point, it’s almost been normalized by a string of wild options like the Naked Chicken Chalupa and Nacho Fries. Now, Taco Bell is keeping the ball rolling by introducing the sinfully cheesy Toasted Cheddar Chalupa.

This chalupa comes with the regular cast characters: lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and the option of seasoned beef, chicken, or steak. But, most importantly, it comes with a new one as well: the cheese encrusted chalupa shell.

One of Taco Bell’s most cherished delicacies, the chalupa shell is a thick, deep fried tortilla. For this variation, they’re taking the shell, covering it in 6-month aged cheddar, and toasting it all until the cheese is as crunchy as the shell.

Personally, I’m a sucker for anything toasted and cheesy. My favorite part of the pizza is the bit in between the crust and the cheese, where the cheese is toasted golden brown on top of the crust, and this chalupa sounds like the taco version of that. My mouth is watering just from writing that, so I can’t wait to order this at 2AM. No regrets.

If you’re a Taco Bell fanatic, and care to fight the surefire lines that will pop up for this, the new chalupa is due for a nationwide release on September 12th and starts at the mere price of $2.49.
