Soylent Adds Chocolate and Fruity Flavored Drinks to Lineup

You can now get all of your nutritional needs in a bottle — with a new added punch of flavor.

Soylent, makers of nutritional bars and beverages that contain everything you need in proper nutrition, announced the release of two new flavors into their beverages lineup. The new “Cacao” flavor is a chocolatey variant of the original beverage made with cocoa powder, while fruity flavors and a dash of turmeric make up the “Nectar” version of Soylent, which has a unique yellow hue and fruit-forward flavor.

A single bottle of any of the Soylent beverages will give you 20% of all of your nutritional needs for the day. As an on-the-go meal replacement goes, it’s quick, convenient, and has tasty flavors added in this new level of innovation.

Some changes were made to the new flavors to improve the quality of the beverages, so they are slightly different from the originals. These changes include the addition of High Oleic Sunflower Oil to provide some essential, monounsaturated fatty acids, and the addition of corn fiber as a prebiotic to help stimulate gut microbial health.

Soylent was gracious enough to send us a few samples, and we got to see what the flavors were like firsthand. Both of them are definitely filling — I didn’t even finish a bottle before feeling full, and I’m a pretty big guy. In terms of flavor, Soylent did a great job and achieving both flavors. The Cacao flavor is definitely chocolatey, and very reminiscent of chocolate protein beverages. I’d probably have it as a post-workout drink. The Nectar flavor would probably be more of something to start my day, as it totally reminds me of Fruit Loops when drinking it. Mild fruitiness is the flavor profile here; not really any particular fruit, but a definite fruity essence like that of the sugary cereal.

If you want to try Soylent as your new meal replacement beverage, you can purchase 12 packs on the Soylent website or via Amazon. Soylent subscribers will be able to get a couple of bucks off of each 12-pack purchase, so if you choose to stick with the Soylent diet, you can save a little bit extra.

The new flavors are definitely a great step forward for Soylent, and we can’t wait to see what else the company has in store for the future. (Secretly, we’re hoping that Soylent Green will become a reality… just as long as it’s not made the same way as in the movie.)
