Fresh on the heels of its new protein-loaded Wild Caught Atlantic Cod, David announced yet another expansion to its product offerings: David Frozen Dessert.

Designed with the company’s same “protein-per-calorie” efficiency that its bars contain, flavors include cookie dough, triple peanut butter, triple chocolate, and vanilla bean. Each pint contains 30 grams of protein, less than 1 to 2 grams of sugar, and feature flavors that range from 210 to 260 in calories.

Sadly, the drop was only made available via the company’s online store, and sold out in just 28 minutes, according to a statement on the website. You’ll have to join the email list to find out when the next drop is happening. “Turns out, we needed more pints. More is on the was,” the site reads. Six-packs went on sale for $90.

David skyrocketed in popularity after being introduced in 2024, largely due to its bars containing 28 grams of protein—the most of any protein bar brand on the market. The company is currently facing a lawsuit accusing it of misrepresenting the nutrition information.

According to a Food Network dietician, David bars contain a modified plant fat called EPG (esterified propoxylated glycerols), which is a plant-based fat alternative used in foods. It tastes like and has the texture of fat but is mostly undigestible, which means it doesn’t contain lots of calories.

Currently, however, the FDA can not accurately assess the pros and cons of consuming EPG with traditional methods, which results in reporting discrepancies—ultimately leading to confusion surrounding the nutritional content in David bars. The dietitian counters that, despite what critics say, David does in fact contain what it claims to.
