KFC Actually Made Cereal For Fried Chicken Lovers

As a lifelong fried chicken fanatic, I’ve come to accept that there are few forms of the bird I won’t entertain. Korean fried chicken, karaage, Nashville hot, chicken and waffles, gas station chicken that has absolutely no business being as good as it is—I’ve got room in my heart for all of it.

Fried chicken cereal, though? Let’s take a step back and look.

KFC UK teamed up with high-protein cereal brand Surreal to create KFCereal, a limited-edition savory cereal inspired by the chain’s Original Recipe chicken. Instead of going sweet, fruity, or chocolatey, each crunchy piece gets seasoned with KFC’s famous blend of 11 herbs and spices.

Things get considerably more interesting once you reach for something to pour over it, because KFC does not recommend milk. This is fried chicken territory, after all. They want you to use gravy.

Yes, KFCereal is designed to be eaten with KFC’s signature gravy poured directly into the bowl, which means we have somehow arrived at fried chicken and gravy for breakfast without an actual piece of chicken anywhere in sight.

And because 2026 demands protein from damn near everything we eat, KFCereal packs 19 grams of protein and just 1 gram of sugar per serving. That keeps it in line with Surreal’s high-protein approach while giving fried chicken obsessives a sentence I certainly never expected to write: KFC cereal has macros.

“Our 11 herbs and spices have been doing a pretty good job on chicken,” KFC Brand Manager Elspeth Allen said, explaining that the team wanted to see what its famous seasoning could do at breakfast.

Look, I’ve eaten enough fried chicken in this lifetime to know when someone is playing too much with the name. I’m not prepared to call cereal fried chicken just because somebody dusted it with 11 herbs and spices.

But pour some gravy over it?
