Capri Sun Fans Lose Their Cool Over New Bottle Launch

If you remember playing Oregon Trail on a Macintosh in elementary school, you probably also remember the strict “no food or drinks” rule in the computer lab—Capri Sun included. Now, that nostalgic childhood drink is making waves with a new announcement: Capri Sun is rolling out beverages in plastic bottles.

Snackolator, a respected voice in the food community, dropped the news earlier this week stating, “These were announced for the upcoming NACS show and will be in three flavors (at least) to start: Fruit Punch, Strawberry Kiwi, and Pacific Cooler. Each bottle is 12oz and won’t need you to have to find the spot to poke the straw in and hope that it doesn’t come shooting back at you!”

Following said news – this is how the internet reacted:

I understand the panic and frustration of the people here. When you convert the adult beverages into bottles, you’re dismantling a unified spirit of a particular generation. It’s not necessarily because of the aluminum, polyester, and polyethylene (ingredients of the pouch) that the people miss, it’s that the pouch is a reminder of dear childhood memories. The adult bottles steal the thrill of trying to punch that teeny yellow straw through an almost impenetrable hole.

The pouch built character. Those who never gave up trying to pierce the pouch, enjoyed the fruit juices of their labor by persevering. The pouch sparked creativity. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve punctured the bottom and sides in my early days.

But thankfully, as reported earlier, Capri Sun reassured fans in a big way — literally — as a giant pallet of 3,800+ Capri Sun pouches will be available to purchase at Walmart next week.
