KFC’s Latest Creation Is A Handbag Full Of Pickles
KFC Netherlands is taking its love of pickles to fashionable new heights with a designer-inspired handbag filled with actual pickles and pickle juice.
Dubbed the Gherkin Bag, the accessory draws inspiration from an iconic luxury handbag and comes courtesy of KFC Netherlands and Amsterdam pickle maker Kesbeke. The bag has already made its way onto the streets of Amsterdam, where select Dutch creators and fashion figures have been spotted carrying it around.
Interestingly, this isn’t even KFC’s first attempt at turning pickles into fashion. Earlier this year, KFC UK introduced the Pickle Puffer, a transparent jacket filled with real pickles and brine. Apparently, the Dutch saw the jacket and figured a matching handbag was in order.
The Gherkin Bag is part of KFC Netherlands’ new Pickle Obsessed campaign, which celebrates the famously divisive ingredient with an entire limited-edition menu. The lineup includes a Pickle Burger, Pickle Loaded Fries, Fried Pickles, and even Pickle Pepsi.

For the menu, KFC also teamed up with Kesbeke to create Picanaisse, a sauce that combines the pickle maker’s piccalilli with Dutch Zaanse mayonnaise. You’ll find it on the new Pickle Burger.
And the pickle festivities extend beyond the menu. KFC Netherlands is also rolling out a Pickle Delivery Bike and a video series featuring the Kesbeke family.
As for the handbag, KFC plans to give pickle enthusiasts a chance to own one through an upcoming creator-led giveaway. Participants will have to demonstrate just how much they love pickles for a shot at getting their hands on the Gherkin Bag.
Between a jacket filled with pickles, a handbag filled with brine, and an entire menu devoted to the ingredient, KFC is making a hell of a case for pickle supremacy.
