PlaqueBoyMax Says Something’s Wrong With Restaurants That Don’t Serve This
PlaqueBoyMax is that guy. Not only was he nominated for Streamer of the Year in 2025, but he also won Best Music Streamer at this year’s Streamer Awards. He earned a nomination for Best Streamed Collaboration alongside Fred again.. and took home Best Streamed Series for his own hit series, In The Booth. By merging the worlds of music, gaming, and pop culture, PlaqueBoyMax has taken the streaming world by storm, and with music becoming an even bigger part of his output, 2026 feels like his next frontier.
We caught up with PlaqueBoyMax following his recent appearance in State Farm’s Gamerhood content series and the filming of Season 5 to talk about something a little different: food. We dove into his streaming snacks and caffeine habits, the New Jersey eats he still swears by, how Miami stacks up against Los Angeles, the foods that surprised him during a recent trip to China, and why every restaurant should have a Caesar salad on the menu.
FB: What are some of the best foods you tried in China? Were there any that surprised you?
PBM: I tried intestines. I tried chicken feet. I tried boar’s head—I don’t even know what that was. Rabbit head too. If I had to say my favorite thing though, it’s the weirdest answer ever, but on that trip I fell in love with bananas. It’s weird. I was eating a banana every day. Growing up, I always stayed away from bananas.
FB: What made you change your mind about bananas?
PBM: I think I was just bored. I was like, “All right, it’s here. It’s healthy. I hear good things about it.” I’m trying to work out and get in better shape, so I figured I’d eat the banana.
FB: Are you on a health journey right now? If so, what are your favorite healthy snacks
PBM: I like protein bars. I like broccolini—broccoli specifically. I like salads. Typically a Caesar salad though, which isn’t the healthiest because of the dressing. Mangoes too. I like mangoes.
FB: If you’re craving a Caesar salad, where are you going? Are you making that at home?
PBM: No. Never, never, never. I don’t do that. I order it off Uber Eats. Whenever I’m out at a restaurant, they typically have a Caesar salad. If you don’t have a Caesar salad as an appetizer, something’s wrong with your restaurant. I’d say that’s my go-to.
FB: On the protein bar side, is there a favorite brand or flavor you go to?
PBM: Clif Bar.
FB: What flavor?
PBM: Cool Mint. It tastes like Girl Scout Thin Mints. That’s why I like it.
FB: You’re from West Orange, New Jersey. How do you feel about Star Tavern?
PBM: Everyone always talks about Star Tavern. I really grew up going to this other place called Johnny’s Pizza because it was on my street, so I’d always go there. But Star Tavern is fire though.
FB: Where are your must-eat spots in Jersey that people outside New Jersey or New York might not know about?
PBM: I really wish I could remember the name. I’m not trying to gatekeep, I promise. It’s this Caribbean spot that used to be by my barbershop. The food is crazy. I think it’s called Something Delight. I forget. I can’t remember. It’s in East Orange.
Diner-wise, I wasn’t really going to a lot of diners in New Jersey. I feel like diners are overrated. The menu is wide, but the taste… it doesn’t go deep sometimes. You gotta find a high-quality diner. There’s a lot of low-quality diners.
What I will say though: bacon, egg, and cheese? Crazy. The bagels in New Jersey are the best in the business. For sure.
FB: Do you have a bagel spot?
PBM: There was this one place called Bagel Box. Everybody from West Orange High School would go there before school and get our little breakfast sandwiches. A bacon, egg, and cheese was only like $4.50. That was a kid’s dream.
There was another spot called Northfield Bagels near where I lived, and I’d go there too. But honestly, I’ll get a bacon, egg, and cheese from anywhere. It’s pretty hard to mess up a bacon, egg, and cheese.
FB: Everybody talks about pork roll in New Jersey. Do you mess with pork roll?
PBM: Before I knew bacon, egg, and cheese, my mom was making pork roll at home. Mom, I love you. She used to make bagels with pork roll and butter—no egg, no cheese. So I don’t think I experienced it the right way. It was always kind of mid to me.
I’ve always been good off pork roll. I prefer a bacon, egg, and cheese. Pork roll tastes good though. It does taste good.
FB: Where else have you lived besides New Jersey?
PBM: I really lived in New Jersey my whole life. Same house for 20 years. Then I moved to Miami when I had just turned 20. I was there for like three to six months, and I’ve been in LA ever since.

FB: How do you feel about the food in Miami versus LA?
PBM: Caribbean food in Miami is fire. In LA, the taco trucks are banging.
My issue with both is that I’m in the house a lot because of what I do, so I end up Uber Eats-ing everything. The Uber Eats out here in LA… it’s not it. Y’all gotta upgrade your stuff because Bossanova is really the only thing open late. It’s like, “Dang, I’m eating this again?” Oh my gosh. It’s crazy.
Miami has more options. More places stay open late. I’d give the edge to Miami.
LA has a lot of fine dining, but it’s like, dang, am I really trying to spend a thousand dollars on a steak every time I eat? That’s not it. So yeah, I’ll say Miami.
FB: If you had a late-night spot in LA, what would you sell? What would your main dish be?
PBM: I’d just sell everything I like to eat. Probably empanadas. Like I said, I like my Caesar salads, chicken wings. I’m a simple guy. I like my pasta with red sauce.
FB: Do you like to snack between meals, or are you not much of a snacker?
PBM: I try not to. I’m not drinking as much caffeine now, but before I’d drink a lot of caffeine, and sometimes I’d lose my diet when that happened. I’d just be locked in and energetic. I don’t really snack during stream.
FB: What’s your go-to for caffeine?
PBM: Red Bull. The watermelon can or the pink one.
FB: What’s a snack or food trend you’ve tried that you think everybody should give a shot, even if they’re hesitant?
PBM: Munchies. The Munchies bags. It’s not really a trend, but I think it’s a good snack. It’s high quality. You’re getting everything in one. If you like that type of food… I mean, it really is junk, but it’s good junk, man.
FB: What’s something everybody’s excited about that you’re like, “Nah, man, that’s trash”?
PBM: People’s taste buds really confuse me sometimes. When that whole pink sauce thing was happening, that just looked like a hazard.
Freeze-dried candy had me down bad for a couple months though. I had to put it down because I knew it wasn’t getting me nowhere except obesity. I used to love the freeze-dried Lemonheads. Oh my gosh. What a treat.
Oh, flavored pickles. I don’t know about flavored pickles. I like regular kosher dill pickles. Bread and butter, sweet pickles, all that different flavored pickle stuff… I’m good off that. Because I’m from Jersey, I’m a sandwich guy. I need some pickles on the sandwich for sure. I don’t really have a favorite pickle brand. I feel like it’s hard to mess up a good pickle with high-quality vinegar and salt.
FB: A lot of creators are launching their own food brands and products now. Is that something you’d ever do? If so, what would be your first product?
PBM: I’d never say never, but I don’t know if I’ll ever do a food product. If I had to put something out, it’d probably be cookies. I was a big cookie connoisseur. There’s this place in Jersey called Cookie Connect that I used to go to. High-quality cookies.
Everybody likes Crumbl. Crumbl’s not high quality in my opinion. It’s just these thick cookies with all this icing. You need the right cookie-to-icing ratio. That’s important. I’d want to put out some warm, nice cookies, like how grandma used to make them when I was growing up.
FB: What are you up to with State Farm and Gamerhood?
PBM: I’m at State Farm Gamerhood for my first year competing. I’ve been getting closer with all my gamer mates, and we’re just having a good time competing in Get the Subs on Twitch.
