Fluffy Japanese Pancakes Are The Buns For This Ice Cream Sandwich

If you’ve never had the privilege of biting into the warm, airy cloud that is a Japanese pancake, you should envy those who have. That light, dainty batter that elicits the perfect wobble shows just how delicate yet delicious these creations can be.

What could make them better, you ask? How about keeping that almost weightless texture while adding in the creamy decadence of ice cream? Interest piqued? Good

At Cauldron Ice Cream in southern California, the popular Japanese pancakes are being used as the base for ice cream sandwiches. Called the Fluffypuff, they make the pancakes in-house before adding in the liquid nitrogen ice cream flavor of your choice. Somehow, slicing into those pancakes doesn’t destroy the delicate network within, so you still get that fluffy experience.

That contrast between cool, luscious ice cream and steamy, ethereal pancake is a mind-blowing experience that you can hopefully contemplate before the brain freeze hits.

You can find the Fluffypuffs at any of Cauldron’s 6 locations in Southern California, including Santa Ana, Chino, Glendale, Temple City, San Diego, and Pasadena.
