If you’re consistently on the prowl for cheap wine deals, Target’s new $5 wines are perfect for you.

On September 3rd, the major department store chain is launching a quintet of wines under the “California Roots” brand. These wines include Moscato, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Red Blend. Each variety uses 100% California grapes, which is how the new brand got its name.

Target’s new wine selection is just the latest in a series of discount wine launches. Costco already has had bulk wine available at cheap prices for a while. Additionally, Trader Joe’s is famous for their “Two Buck Chuck” label of booze, which is likely the cheapest wine out there. Recently, Sam’s Club has also brought in a private label brand with $7 bottles of Member’s Mark chardonnay.

These cheap wine deals are starting to get increasingly competitive in the industry, which is good news for us consumers. We’ll be able to get our drink on at a much lower price as a result.

For Target shoppers, the new $5 wines will definitely be a welcome addition to the grocery section because of their price. We’ll have to see if they taste good as well when they drop on September 3rd.
