Nike Wants To Put Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles On Your Feet

Let’s face it, over the years, fashion has become more than just clothing. Simply wearing a hat with a team’s logo or sporting a player’s signature sneaker can be taken as a sign of allegiance. It’s crazy, but clothing can make statements about our likes and dislikes — without us actually saying anything.

Maybe that’s the reason Nike was subliminally telling sneaker heads everywhere to show support for the legendary Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles after Roscoe’s parent company, East Coast Foods Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 25.

The footwear juggernaut ironically previewed the soul-food themed Nike SB’s Dunk High “Chicken and Waffles” collection the same week Roscoe’s long list of financial missteps started to make headlines.

While Nike doesn’t actually have a corporate sponsored campaign to support Roscoe’s, the craftsmanship Nike SB put into this collection make this shoe seem like an exclusive Nike SB X Roscoe’s release. Check out the detail.

Damn, don’t you kinda want to take a bite? I do.

Would you rock a pair of these to show your support for the landmark restaurant chain? If you don’t, we’re sure Snoop Dogg would.

Not only is the waffle restaurant Snoop’s favorite spot to grub, but we recently reported that The Doggfather said he’d be willing to purchase Roscoe’s in order to help the company get out of a sticky financial situation.

If Snoop Dogg does rescue Roscoe’s, supporters may have to adjust to the new name of “Snoop Dogg’s Chicken ‘N Waffles,” but even then — we can’t wait to see photos of sneaker heads at Roscoe’s wearing the Nike SB’s Chicken And Waffle dunks.
