Listeria Scare Leads To Massive Recall Of Sabra Classic Hummus

Between the Amy’s Kitchen recall in March and this new hummus recall, it’s a rough time to have a healthy, vegetarian-based diet.

Sabra is concerned that about 30,000 cases of its hummus products might have listeria, so they voluntarily recalled all the Classic Hummus with expiration dates between May 11 and May 15. The Food and Drug Administration said it found traces of listeria in the Classic Hummus of an unnamed retail store during a routine check on March 30.

The recalled products are:

  • Sabra Classic Hummus in 10-ounce sizes with UPC: 040822011143
  • Sabra Classic Hummus in 30-ounce sizes with UPC: 040822014687
  • Sabra Classic Hummus without Garnish in 32 ounce sizes with UPC: 040822342049
  • Sabra Classic Hummus in 17-ounce six-packs with a UPC: 040822017497
  • Hummus Dual Pack Classic/Garlic 23.5 ounce with UPC: 040822342209

Listeria is known to cause high fevers, stiff necks and nausea, so if you’re sick in bed after enjoying some pita bread with some of Sabra’s hummus, make your way to the doctor and make sure to get your money back at the store.

I guess that’s what we get for trying to eat healthy.
