Adventure: Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill (Cambria, CA)

I was first turned on to this awesome beach-front restaurant by our own Matt Maine and the rest of his family, mentioning that this was one of the go-to spots if you’re spending any time in Cambria, CA. Great food, great views of a calming beach and a killer patio seating area are just a few highlights of this spot.

Again we visit the love-hate-hate-love relationship of Matt Maine (left) and Marc Kharrat (right). Also please take note of the very customary, very #damnthatsarab, two different cellphones sitting in front of Matt. One is his American phone, the other is his International. I guess you just have to do it.

Of course, the first thing we had to do was get a nice order of their delicious Calamari Frita, because no ocean-view is proper without one. Amidst the sounds of the waves and the banter between Matt and Marc discussing whose member is larger, we decided it was time to get our grub on (that’s what she said). Marc started off the ordering with a Philly Cheese Sandwich, Moonstone style of course. These guys ring you up with tender roast beef on a grilled French bread, smothered with cheese, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms.

Matt and Giovanni decided it was only proper to order up a couple servings of the Moonstone Chowder, a New England-style clam chowder served hot in a Moonstone crusty sourdough bowl.

Lastly, I decided I would elicit a few giggles and order up the delicious Fish Tacos, done up with corn tortillas stuffed with lightly breaded fish, served with cabbage, onions, cilantro and spicy cream sauce, with a side of homemade salsa. Now that I think of it, I’m not sure why this dish elicited giggles.

So next time you’re driving up through Cambria, or Central California in general, make it a point to swing by this spot for some good food and an even better view. I’m not really sure why in the world you’d opt for the inside seating, but it is available also. Either way, stay hungry friends!
